Howard Starr (1977)
In 1977, Howard and Gwen Starr started a small monument company in Elkhart, Texas. With the help of their children, the family business continued to grow and was passed down to the next generation.
Today, Martus Stone remains family owned and operated. Charles II and his sons carry on the family tradition, representing the third and fourth generation of the Starr family in the monument business.
From its humble beginnings, Martus Stone has expanded to have 15 retail locations and numerous wholesale accounts. In spite of our growth, every monument is manufactured in Elkhart, Texas. We remain committed to offering the highest quality product and customer service, with the personal touch that has defined us for more than 45 years.
